Fall Prevention for Seniors

New guidelines have been released on decreasing falls in senior citizens by The American Geriatric Society and the British Geriatric Society.

Among the recommendations were:

  1. Decrease use of prescription medications like sleeping pills and antidepressants
  2. Tai chi for strength training
  3. Use of chiropractic care.  A recent clinical pilot study examined the effects of chiropractic care on 34 seniors who had dizziness, balance problems and back pain. The outcomes revealed that patients who had received spinal manipulation therapy showed greater improvement in comparison to the control group with no negative reactions.
